It has been said over the years
that Myfanwy's work is amazingly varied. This is because
she is infinitely curious and has little regard for the "rules".
Once something has triggered her interest, it becomes all
consuming. That is how her visual, tactile and cerebral creative
process is.
Yet, even though she uses a varied array of materials,
and accepts different and challenging projects, there is
always a strong and unbroken thread that weaves through
all her pieces, a constant vibrant energy as well as the
search for answers, the joy of amazement and discovery
and the excitement of being uninhibited and a law unto
herself. She finds it excruciatingly painful to be "boxed" in
on any creative level.
While working professionally with clients and designers
however, she works as a team member, and shares her creative
ideas, enjoying that process as well.
She was born and lived a good portion of her life in Africa.
There is a deep almost tribal theme that resonates in her
favorite work. Her travels have influenced her creative
nuances, as well as her life's wildly turbulent course.
Bekker's work has become more thoughtful and she remains
committed to painting about peoples that are struggling
socio/politically. Her work has a lot do with healing,
visions and dreams, frequencies, and a healthy feel for
the "unseeness" of life. Her humor too remains
evident.
Environmental natural beauty is extraordinarily important
to her. Her animals, with whom she communicates constantly,
are of utmost importance in her quest to understand natural
rhythms.
Bekker continues to work in Southern California and Africa,
as she moves between two worlds.
Myfanwy has been invited by the prestigeous Read Gallery
to have a show in their Knysna Fine Art Gallery in November
this year, 2004. The opening will take place on the 25th
of November, and she is happy to say that her two guest
artists, featured now, will be showing there at the same
time as adjunct forces. It should be a strong show, and
all are welcome. We will post the show up as a happening
event at that time."
MYFANWY IS A FORMER STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBER OF E/A/S/L/
OF NORTH TEXAS, AND IS CURRENTLY A FOUNDING BOARD MEMEBER
OF THE SYNERGY ART FOUNDATION.
AT THE PRESENT TIME SHE IS WORKING ON THE LAKESIDE MEMORIAL
FOR FIRE VICTIMS WHO LOST ALL IN THE RECENT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
WILDFIRES.
